Job Title:Placement and Parallel Clinical Obligations Co-ordinator
Location:  Based at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, Nottingham. Travel to local and regional placement providers forms part of the role.
Hours:    Part-time 7.5 hours per week
Salary:£28,000 – £44,000 per annum, FTE based upon experience and qualifications.
Accountability:    reporting to the Director of Training
Liaises with:   Programme Leaders, key members of SPTI staff, Placement Providers, supervisors, therapists

The role
This is an exciting role, recently expanded to further enhance the ongoing development, monitoring and support of practice placements and parallel clinical obligations, which are key components of our psychotherapy and counselling training. The main focus of the role is to develop and maintain relationships with new and existing placements, supervisors and therapists, to take responsibility for developing and maintaining administrative processes related to clinical obligations and placements, and working with Programme Leaders and Facilitators to support students in their placement journeys. SPTI has a varied range of placement providers, supervisors and therapists across the midlands and the postholder will need to be proactive in maintaining existing excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They should also have excellent project management skills to develop new placement opportunities within the field. 

Key areas of focus:

  • Reviewing and updating existing information relating to placements and placement providers, in liaison with administrative staff.
  • Developing SPTI’s relationships with placement providers, supervisors and therapists through direct contact, forums, CPD and annual events
  • Maintaining and enhancing placement, supervisor and therapist approval systems, registers, databases and other relevant resources in consultation with the Director of Training and Programme Leaders.
  • Liaising with students on placement to enhance information available to current and future students.
  • Supporting students in accessing potential placements.
  • Organising annual events including placement information day, student placement fair, supervisor and therapist forums
  • Investigating and creating new placement opportunities for SPTI students.

About You

If you are a dynamic, self motivated and creative professional with significant experience of placement provision we would love to hear from you.

In order to be eligible to apply, you will need:

  • To ideally have a minimum of 3 years post qualification clinical experience as registered/accredited UKCP/BACP psychotherapist. Alternatively 3 years experience at a senior level or a placement coordinator role in an allied profession such as nursing, mental health or social work.
  • To ideally be a qualified supervisor as recognised by SPTI or have experience of providing and receiving clinical supervision
  • To have an understanding of issues relating to placement provision
  • To have experience of placements and/or project management experience
  • To have an understanding of ethics relating to clinical practice.
  • To be committed to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion.
  • To have a valid UK driving licence and access to own transport
  • Not to have been found guilty of serious professional misconduct or ethical misconduct, or be subject to any unresolved ethical complaints
  • Ideally candidates should not be currently based within an agency providing SPTI placements. To avoid conflicts of interest, you will not be able to form supervisory or therapy relationships with students whilst they are in training.
